A short four-track jugglin’ gives House A Rifle Riddim a tight, no-frills shape, with Alex Mobsta, Jed-I, Mad Daag and Penny Don all circling the same hard-edged theme before Chronic Law closes it out on “Full House A Rifle. ” The wording of the songs points straight into tense street talk, and the production from Bragga Phelps keeps that mood anchored in stripped-back dancehall pressure rather than anything glossy or overworked. Chronic Law’s cut feels like the obvious anchor, but Jed-I’s “Organized Crime” and Mad Daag’s “Dawg Them A Howl” help give the set its bite.
