Death Memorial Riddim – Jahboy Bailey Production

Jahboy Bailey’s Death Memorial Riddim doesn’t play like a glossy label showcase so much as a lean 2017 dancehall juggling with a grim title and a straightforward, no-frills mood. The strongest pull comes from the contrast between the subject matter and the way the cuts move: Fyah Smerf’s “Good Good” and Shemdon’s “Nun A Dem Gyal Deh” ride the beat with sharp, road-ready phrasing, while Granpa’s “Ugly Gyal Pt. 3” adds a sly cameo from Dr. Pla that gives the set a bit more personality. Across the seven tracks, the production keeps a clipped, propulsive pulse and leaves enough space for each voice to land cleanly, with Ika, Kastro and Racko Dan filling out the middle of the sequence.
