Giddimani Records keeps this one firmly in roots mode, with a sturdy one-riddim set that leans on militant bass, clipped drums and a singer-to-sing-jay lineup that moves from uplift to resistance without getting too glossy. Perfect Giddimani opens with “Born African, ” while Lutan Fyah’s “Probation” and Leah Rosier’s “Fear Not” bring the kind of conscious pressure that gives the project its shape; Young Shanty and Teacha Dee add some extra lift in the middle. Released on February 10, 2017, the set runs 13 tracks deep, and the name itself says a lot about the playful confidence behind it, even before the closing “Burnhard Spliffington Dub” lets the rhythm breathe one more time.
