BUGGERING RIDDIM produced by AFRICAN STAR 1993
Buggering Overview
The Buggering Riddim started in the studio with a clear vision from producer AFRICAN STAR. He wanted to create a dancehall beat that would last, with strong energy for the streets and the dance. AFRICAN STAR, known for his African Star label, has worked with many top reggae and dancehall artists. He is respected for his deep roots in the music scene and his careful production style. The riddim’s hard-hitting rhythm inspired artists to bring their best. Capleton voiced two tracks: "Buggering" and "Prepare Fi Die." Capleton is famous for his fiery lyrics and stage presence. He became even more well-known in later years with the hit "Tour." Captain Barkey’s "Mate Dem Career" added humor and storytelling to the riddim. Barkey was part of the duo Captain Barkey & Wickerman, known for their playful songs in the 1990s. General B brought his unique style to "Can't Stop We." He is a member of the group Monster Shack Crew, which had several dancehall hits in the late 1990s. Junior Reid, who once led Black Uhuru and had solo hits like "One Blood," delivered "Inna De Dance." His voice gave the riddim another layer of depth. Little Ray & Judas teamed up for "Loving Game," adding a smooth, catchy tune to the mix. DJs in 1993 played this riddim at every sound system event, making it a true dancehall classic.
