ASYLUM RIDDIM produced by WORLD WIDE SUCCESS RECORDS (W.W.S) 1999
Asylum Overview
Back in 1999, the Asylum Riddim brought a fresh energy to dancehall night parties. The beat was jumpy and full of life, with a rhythm that made you want to move. This riddim was perfect for the clubs—fast, catchy, and easy to dance to. Every sound seemed made for the dancefloor, and the bassline kept the crowd moving all night. On this riddim, some big names came together. Boom Dandimite’s “If Yuh Say War” stood out with his strong delivery. Delly Ranks gave us “Second Class,” showing his skill as a DJ—he is also known for his hit “Pon Di Corner” with Voice Mail years later. Harry Toddler’s “It Bun Dem” was another crowd favorite; he was already famous for his work with Scare Dem Crew. Nitty Kutchie dropped “Chronic,” bringing his unique style to the mix. Veteran singer Leroy Smart added “Roses In My Garden” and also did the “Asylum Riddim Version/Instrumental.” Leroy Smart is well-known for his classic “Ballistic Affair” and has been a staple in reggae since the 1970s. The producer behind this was WORLD WIDE SUCCESS RECORDS (W.W.S). This label is known for releasing several popular dancehall riddims in the late ‘90s and early 2000s, helping to shape the sound of the era. Even now, when people hear the Asylum Riddim, they remember the excitement of 1999’s dancehall parties. The music still brings back those good times.
