Curtis O’Brien, born in September 1971 in St.Catherine, Jamaica is a reggae and dancehall singer. Some time during the 90s, he won the best artist prize in a local competition. That was his break which led to him getting his big break. It’s amazing that his romantic delivery of some of his songs was due to his early influence like Luther Vandross and Stevie Wonder. Tony Curtis has been a dependable superstar for social and sentimental reggae for well longer than 20 years. Though he is a very successful solo singer, he is a part of L.U.S.T, together with Lukie D, Thriller U, and Singing Melody. He has been seen exhibiting his talent from as early as 1994 when he did a splendid collaboration with Jigsy King. The song they did together made waves at the time, it was called “Real Thing.” In 1999, he made a single titled “25 Ladies” and it was yet another hit. 2002-2006 he released 3 jam-packed albums namely Stronger, Ready For The World, and Leave The Collie Alone respectively. He made an appearance on at least 5 albums from 2006-2014. King Tubby’s Dub Plate Style riddim was one of these albums which got released in 2014 and it was equally refreshing. Over the years he has accomplished so much including a minimum of 22 compilations between the years 1994-2020. O’Brien has made his fans proud through the constant delivery of his unique style within the dancehall, ragga, and reggae industry. “Thinking” was a beautiful love song that O’Brien collaborated with Curtis Lynch and Angel. It’s on the album released by Necessary Mayhem in 2017 titled Reggae Lovers. They recently appeared on BBC Radio 1Xtra as L.U.S.T doing a freestyle session in 2019 at Big Yard Studios. What an appearance and the best is yet to come.
