Ginjah
Valentine Nakrumah Fraser in Hanover, Jamaica on 7 September 1978. He later on moved to St James which is where he attended school. Fraser realized his talent while he was in St James and in 1994he moved to Central Village, Spanish Town and here is where he had his first studio session at King Jammy’s at the age of 17. While he was in Central Village he helped organize a People Talent Search for his home community and at the same time he was developing his talent as well.
Beres Hammond discovered Fraser’s talent in 1999 and he also noticed how much he craved for the popular Jamaican brew known as ginger beer so he decided to name him Ginjah. Hammond invited Fraser to his Harmony House Label and he began recording in 2000. By 2001 he was on tours opening for Beres Hammond. They together toured places like the Caribbean, Europe, Canada, the US and Japan. He signed with I Land Music in 2004 and that same year he performed at Reggae Sumfest in Jamaica. Since he left Beres Hammond he has done songs such as “War In The City”, “Rise Above”, “Go Thy Way” and “Manners”. He did his first solo tour of Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
