Ian Antonio Alvarez, born 14 July 1978 in Arima, Trinidad, is a dancehall, soca, and reggae recording artist. Not only is he a musician, but he is also a songwriter and producer. His debut album was The Chronicles released 1999 after having won many Soca Monarch competitions with the following songs: ‘Down in the Ghetto,’ ‘Warrior Cry,’ ‘Blaze the Fire,’ and ‘Fiery’ in 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2008 respectively. ‘Clear De Road’ was in 2009 where Ian took 2nd place in the International Soca Monarch. His wife, Fay-Ann Lyons who was pregnant at the time and a fellow soca artist was number 1 with ‘Meet Super Blue.’ Grand Theft Auto IV soundtrack was Ian’s ‘Brrt,’ s song and in addition to Ian’s accolades, the track ‘Differentology’ won him the Soul Train Award for Best International Performance in 2013 and featured guitarist Nigel Rojas. Ian had at least 12 albums between 1999-2017. ‘Truck On The Road,’ ‘The Message’ and ‘Television’ were singles that made his popularity more widespread and they were released in the years 2014, 2015 and 2016 in their order. Ian made many collaborations with various artists within the music industry like ‘Carnival Tabanca’ released in 2014, which he did with Tarrus Riley. ‘Jungle Bae’ was done with Jack U in 2015 and the same year ‘Baddest Things’ with Party Favor & Nymz. 2017 and 2019 had more collabos with Machel Montano, Salvatore Ganacci, and Dillon Francis, just to name a few. 2020 saw the release of ‘Break a Branch’ featuring Motto. Ian’s talent has made him unique and stands out amongst his peer musicians to date.
