Deal Riddim produced by W. Riley Prophecy Music for Techniques Records 1994
Deal Overview
In 1994, the sound system parties in Jamaica were alive with new energy. Selectors would set up their speakers in open yards and dance halls, bringing the latest dancehall riddims to the people. One riddim that stood out was Deal Riddim. Its lively beat and catchy groove made it a favorite for DJs and dancers alike. The riddim was crafted by W. Riley Prophecy Music for Techniques Records. W. Riley, also known as Winston Riley, was already a respected producer in Jamaica. He founded Techniques Records in the late 1960s, and the label became known for many influential reggae and dancehall releases. Riley’s production style helped many artists find their sound, and his work on Deal Riddim kept the music fresh and exciting in 1994. Deal Riddim gave a platform to several rising artists. Galaxy P’s "Gal Dem Feel Hot" became a crowd favorite, with its playful lyrics and strong delivery. Jack Radics showed his vocal power with "Make Your Move Right Now." He was already known for his hit "No Matter" with Chaka Demus & Pliers. Simpleton brought two tracks, "Mi Sistren" and "You A Wear Di Ring," both filled with clever wordplay. Spragga Benz, who would later become a major name in dancehall, added "Could Ah Deal." W. Riley himself contributed with the "Deal Riddim Instrumental," letting the beat shine on its own. Together, these songs made Deal Riddim a must-play at every session, capturing the lively spirit of dancehall sound system culture in 1994.
