Yellow Moon Records’ Wul Dem Riddim landed in 2014 as a taut dancehall juggling built on a blunt, stripped-down groove that leaves room for the vocals to carry the weight. The release is credited to DJ Sunshine’s Yellow Moon camp, the same label run by Katrina “DJ Sunshine” Irons, and it sits squarely in the label’s mid-2010s run of digital-era dancehall productions. The riddim’s official versions were voiced by Alkaline, I-Octane and Mavado, with clean and raw takes of the songs and a bare instrumental closing the set.

The strongest pull here comes from the contrast between the artists. Alkaline’s Wul De Claffy Dem and Wul De Pussy Dem fit the sharp, combative tone that was helping push him into wider visibility at the time, while I-Octane’s What A Way Wi Shatting lands with a more seasoned singjay flow and a direct streetwise edge. Mavado’s Duh Weh Yuh Waan brings the kind of grim, authoritative presence that had already made him one of dancehall’s defining voices. There was even some wider attention around Alkaline’s cut, which shows how quickly the tune moved beyond the riddim itself.
