Sedway Riddim – Boysie Records

2018 was a busy year for stripped-back dancehall riddims, and Boysie Records’ Sedway sat right in that lane with a lean, forward-driving cut that gave singers plenty of room to work. The project runs five tracks, but the sharpest moments come from Intence’s “Seh Dem Real” and Iyara’s “Surprise, ” both issued in radio-edit and full versions, with I-Waata’s “Pata Shake” adding a rougher, street-level edge. Boysie keeps the instrumental taut and percussive rather than overloading it, so the hooky vocal ideas stay front and center. By the time you reach the last “Surprise” version, the riddim’s clipped bounce and steady pulse have done their job without wasting a bar.
