Windrush Generation Riddim – Giddimani Records

Windrush Generation Riddim came out on Giddimani Records in 2019, with Perfect Giddimani driving the project through his own label and House Of Riddim handling the musical bed and dub work. The title fits the spirit of the session: conscious reggae with a community-minded edge, but not soft-edged or polite. It has that late-2010s roots-drive feel, steady and spacious, with enough low-end weight to keep the versions moving and enough room for the vocalists to work their lines.

Perfect Giddimani anchors the set with “Windrush Generation, ” and later returns on “Madda in Law, ” which gives the riddim a second shot of his sharp, direct phrasing. Teacha Dee’s “Rat Trap” brings a more pointed social tone, while King Mas turns “Brain Drain” into a critique-minded cut with an assertive delivery. Young Shanty’s “That Day” adds a younger, smoother voice to the sequence, and Cookie The Herbalist’s “Tired Of It” gives the compilation one of its more immediately relatable hooks. Menny More’s “Champion Sound” draws on sound-system language with veteran confidence, and Da Real Storm’s “Weeping Willow Dub” keeps the project open-ended rather than closing on the last vocal.

The dub versions matter here too. “Windrush Generation Dub” and “That Day Dub” extend the atmosphere without breaking the momentum, giving the riddim more of the juggling feel that has always made these releases work. This is a roots set with a clear message, but it still moves like a proper sound-system release.
