Young Vibez Productions gets this one exactly right by pushing a hard, humid dancehall rhythm that feels both streetwise and a little left-field. Released in 2016, Wicked Wicked Riddim sits in the era when Jamie Roberts’ label was already making noise as one of the younger production houses in Kingston, and the beat carries that energy: uptempo, percussive, and laced with a hypnotic Indian-flavoured guitar line that gives the whole set its own pull. There’s a sound-system roughness in the mix too, but the riddim still moves cleanly enough for big-voiced singers and deejays to cut through.

The project’s strongest names tell the story. Popcaan, fresh off the run that made him one of dancehall’s most visible exports, rides the rhythm with the sort of street anthem pressure that made him a natural fit. Sizzla brings the militant edge and a sharper, more commanding flow on “Mek Sure, ” while Chi Ching Ching’s “Roast Or Fry” injects a playful, chant-driven spark. Govana, still working under the Deablo name on this era’s releases, adds a tougher lyrical stance on “Real Genna, ” and Ja Frass keeps the temperature high with “Kill Him Enuh. ” Dosa Medicine’s “Badman” appears in both clean and raw forms, reinforcing the riddim’s direct, no-frills framing.

What makes Wicked Wicked Riddim click is the balance between its melodic hook and its aggression. It has enough bounce for dancing, but the mood stays tense and war-ready, which is why Sizzla and Popcaan end up feeling like the anchor cuts.
