West Indie Riddim arrived in 2020 on Avocaudio, the Los Angeles-based label run by Roommate, and brings together a compact four-track lineup with Ranking Joe, Rastaveli MC, Mello Banton, and Roommate himself. The release keeps the focus on one shared riddim, with Ranking Joe’s Homeless, Rastaveli MC’s Haters, and Mello Banton’s Start to Finish each giving the rhythm a different vocal angle before Roommate closes it out with the title cut. Avocaudio has a long-running reputation for mixing reggae with dub-minded, bass-heavy production, and this one leans into that same approach with a tight, boomshot feel rather than a sprawling compilation.
