Survival Riddim – Fire Axe Band

Cut in 2012, the Survival Riddim comes with a clean four-song set from Fire Axe Band and a rootsy, easy-swaying pulse that feels more conscious than flashy, with enough bass weight to keep it moving. Luciano’s “Only Jah Knows” gives the riddim its strongest anchor, while Nazzleman’s “Song of Redemption” and Tanice Morisson’s “Can We Make A Change” push the same spiritually minded message in different shades. Ras Brando closes it out with “The Most High, ” keeping the whole package focused on uplift rather than excess. Fire Axe keep the arrangement lean, so the vocals and message sit right up front, which was very much the mood on a lot of early-2010s reggae riddims.
