In 2018, the streets of Jamaica found a new anthem with the release of the Velosity Riddim. The riddim was produced by DIWALI, a label known for its strong presence in dancehall music. DIWALI had already made waves in the early 2000s with the famous Diwali Riddim, which helped launch several international hits and brought the label worldwide recognition. The Velosity Riddim was crafted to capture the raw energy of dancehall. Lenky Marsden, the mastermind behind the riddim, laid down a base that was both fresh and true to the roots of the genre. The sound quickly spread through sound systems, becoming a favorite for selectors and partygoers. Zumjay’s track, "Been There Did It," brought his signature style to the mix. Assassin, also known as Agent Sasco, added "Smooth Operator"—a reminder of his skill as a lyricist. Assassin had already gained international attention for his work with Kanye West on "I'm In It" from the album Yeezus. Harry Toddler, known for his role in the Scare Dem Crew, delivered "Million & Buff," keeping the energy high. Bling Dawg, with "Sometimes," brought his deep voice and steady flow, while Stacious added a strong female presence with "Better Than Dis." Each artist added a unique flavor, making the riddim a complete experience. Other contributions like Califa’s "Sorry" and Tornado’s "Bun Bad Mind" kept the playlist fresh.
