Hotboxxx Entertainment’s 2018 Shock Value Riddim comes in with a taut, no-frills dancehall pulse that leaves room for the vocals to jab through, and Dane Ray’s “Easily” and Zagga’s “We Run Tings” sit right in that pocket with enough attitude to carry the cut. Versi’s “Design” and Patexx’s “Ocean” add a little more colour to the set, but the producer’s own instrumental keeps the frame tight, almost like a calling card for the whole thing. It runs just seven tracks, 18 minutes, and that compact length suits the mood.
