In the late 1990s, dancehall music was full of energy and new sounds. One important release from this era was the Top Shatta Riddim, produced by Colin Fat Records. Colin Fat Records, founded by the late producer Colin "Fat" Walters, was known for helping many artists rise in the dancehall scene. The label is respected for its classic riddims and strong influence on Jamaican music. The Top Shatta Riddim stood out for its heavy basslines and catchy beats, making it popular in clubs and dances. Several well-known artists recorded songs on this riddim, each bringing their own style. Captain Barkley delivered “Hana Up Deh,” a track full of lively vocals and energy. Boom Dandymite and Buccaneer teamed up for “Looking And Steer,” while Hitlist’s “Run De Place” and the duo Nitty Kutchie & Douglas Angel with “Top Shatta” kept the dance floor moving. Elephant Man’s “Rupaul System” added even more energy.
