Swag Riddim (2011) – Champaine Productions

Coming off that early-2011 dancehall wave, Swag Riddim keeps it tight with eight cuts and not a lot of dead weight, so the focus stays on personality and attitude. D’Angel’s “Miss Independent” feels like the obvious crowd-puller, all confidence and sharp edge, while Lisa Hyper’s “Lock Dung Di Place” leans harder into the party-commanding side of the rhythm. P Inc opens with “Swag Beatin, ” Pamputtae cuts through with “Swag, ” and the Drezion pairing on “Wanna Be Rich” and “Wine Up” gives the set a bit of extra motion. Champaine Productions doesn’t overcrowd the thing; it’s a compact 2011 dancehall package that sits right in the middle of that swag-heavy era when selectors were feeding straight-forward, bad-minded riddims to the streets.
