STILL RIDDIM produced by DIGITAL B 1998
Still Overview
In 1998, the Still Riddim arrived on the Jamaican dancehall scene, bringing a fresh energy to clubs across the island. This riddim was built in the famous Digital B studio, where many of the era’s top hits were shaped. The man behind it all was producer Digital B, also known as Bobby Digital. He was already known for his work with artists like Shabba Ranks and Cocoa Tea, and his Digital B label had become a powerhouse in reggae and dancehall since the late 1980s. The creation of Still Riddim was a team effort, with studio musicians adding their touch under Digital B’s direction. The riddim’s sound was sharp and infectious, designed to keep dance floors moving. When it was ready, Digital B called in some of dancehall’s most respected voices to voice the tracks. Daddy Screw brought his signature style to “Know The Day A Come,” a song that matched his reputation for witty lyrics. Delly Ranks, known for his hit “Pon Di Corner” with Buju Banton, added “God Bless Property,” showing his strong presence on the mic. Don Yute, who would later collaborate with Sean Paul, delivered “Thug Style Holla,” adding a streetwise edge. Hawkeye’s “Stick It” kept the energy high, while Nadine Sutherland, famous for her duet “Action” with Terror Fabulous, gave a soulful performance on “All Them A Talk.” Still Riddim quickly became a staple for selectors and DJs, capturing the pure dancehall vibe of 1998.
