2020 reggae stepped out with Steppers Riddim from 24/7 Music Production, a nine-track set that pulls together Darrio, Perfect Giddimani, Teflon, Salma Queen, Iyah Syte and others across a steady roots-flavoured swing. The cut that helped define it was Darrio’s Nowhere Is Safe, while Perfect Giddimani’s World We Living In and Teflon’s Dark Cloud gave the riddim some of its strongest pressure. 24/7 Music Production’s Kevin Hill, based in Chesapeake, Virginia, has said the project grew out of the momentum around the rhythm itself, and the compilation also includes tracks like People Rise, Inna Di Ghetto and Have Some Class, keeping the message rooted in struggle, warning and uplift.
