Robot Head Production’s Soundcloud Riddim lands with a more internet-era, song-driven dancehall feel than a lot of the harder one-drop juggling the producer name might suggest, and that contrast is part of the charm. The set runs nine tracks deep in 2011, with clean and raw versions of Charly Blacks’ “So Right” opening things up and Wayne Wonder closing the sequence on “Put Your Drink Up. ” In between, there’s a neat spread of voices — Honorebel, Pressure, Lady Saw, K Victoria, and Selena Serrano among them — that keeps the riddim moving without overloading it. The title track sits right in the middle, which feels deliberate, like Robot Head wanted to anchor the project before letting the vocal cuts fan out around it.
