Sky Line Riddim – Steel Mafia Music Group

Back in late 2019, when dancehall was leaning hard into terse, hooky single-artist cuts and quick-fire rhythm packages, Steel Mafia Music Group came through with Sky Line Riddim on November 8, 2019, a 14-track set running about 37 minutes and keeping the pace locked at that lean, mid-tempo bounce. Binelli Gad’s “Killing Dawg” and Blackdon’s “Gyalis Game” sit right in the pocket: the first has that sharp, threatening talk-over energy, while the second rides the kind of flirtatious badness that carried a lot of 2019 bashment. Don Scrue’s “Activate” and Jahvi Dann’s “Nuh Trust Dem” push the same riddim from two angles, one more action-ready, the other colder and more suspicious. It’s a compact one-riddim run, and the way the voices keep swapping in and out gives it the feel of a busy street-corner session rather than a polished showcase.
