Crown Royal Riddim – Countree Hype Entertainment

Chronic Law’s “Peak” feels like the anchor here, and it’s easy to hear why Countree Hype built the Crown Royal Riddim around that kind of pressure-cooker energy. The riddim has a lean, hard-edged dancehall swing, all taut drums and sharp bass, with enough space for the artists to cut through without the whole thing ever sounding bare. Jahvillani’s “GOAT” pushes the confidence angle, while Fresh King and Shremkell lean into swagger and street talk, and Paco General’s “We Got It” with Don Dynas adds a bit more crew chemistry to the set. Released on July 31, 2019, the project sits right in that late-2010s wave of straight-ahead juggling riddims built for sound system replay, and the clean/raw pairings give it extra mileage for selectors.
