Showcase Riddim (2013) – Uim Records

UIM Records had this one out in 2013, and it sits squarely in the label’s early-2010s dancehall run. The Showcase Riddim is driven by Anju Blaxx and Kadeem, the same UIM circle that pushed a steady stream of jugglings in that period. It comes as a proper dancehall workshop rather than a one-off single drop, with the rhythm giving each voice room to work over a crisp, party-ready pulse.

The cuts that matter most here are the ones that show how different artists can twist the same bed in different directions. Blak Diamon’s “When We Party” brings a youthful, celebratory energy, while Jahmiel’s “Nothing Bout Mine” gives the riddim a more focused, melody-led turn. Laden’s “Bounce Brace” keeps the motion moving with a rougher street-side edge, and Leftside’s “Bad Girl” folds in his usual seasoned deejay flair. QQ’s “Brawl Out (Raw)” adds the rawness that dancehall fans expect from that corner of the scene, and Supa Hype and Pamputae’s “Like Dat” gives the project one of its livelier pairings.

What makes Showcase work is the contrast between the voices. Jahmiel is already shaping the reflective, singjay style he would later be known for, while QQ brings the energy of a veteran child star turned mainstay.
