Scorpion Pepper Riddim sits in Platta Records’ 2014 Crop Over-era catalogue, when the Worthing, Christ Church outfit was keeping a steady run of Barbados soca flowing from the studio. The juggling leans on a bright, pushy groove with crisp percussion, rubbery low end and a buoyant swing that leaves plenty of room for the vocals to punch through. King Bubba FM opens the set with “Gimme Wha Ya Got Wuck Me, ” and Lil Rick’s “Can’T Kill My Vibe” is the other cut that immediately catches the ear, while Peter Ram Aka GT, Salt, Sekon Sta and Verseewild keep the pace moving across the rest of the riddim.
