Congo Stand Riddim – Kirkledove Records

In 2014, Kirkledove Records cut a compact soca juggling that keeps the energy tight and the arrangements lean, with just four tracks moving through the same sunny, floor-ready groove. Kiprich’s “Can’t Stop Yuh” is the pull of the set, and General Degree’s “Problem” adds a sharper, more playful veteran touch, while Sanjay’s “Head Top” rounds it out with a harder edge. The riddim itself sits in that brisk, percussion-forward lane that was still carrying a lot of Caribbean Carnival traffic in the early 2010s, all bounce and drum pressure rather than heavy bass weight. Released on March 11, 2014, the project is a small but clean snapshot of how soca producers were packaging club energy into short, easy-turnover riddim sets at the time.
