Flags up, then straight into the groove: Sheriff Black Ice Studio keeps this 2014 soca set tight and to the point, with just four cuts and a clear leaning toward road-season energy. Chucky Gordon’s “#868” and Nisha B’s “Catch It” carry the bounce, but Patrice Roberts’ “Make Meh Out” is the one that gives the riddim its brightest flash, especially with her confident, quick-footed delivery. There’s a familiar Black Ice polish here too, the same kind of crisp, percussive feel that shows up across the producer’s later catalogue, though this one feels more compact and less sprawling than some of those follow-ups. The instrumental closes the package neatly, and with only three vocal versions around it, Flags Up sits nicely as a lean early-2010s soca entry in Sheriff Black Ice Studio’s run.
