RIGHT NOW RIDDIM produced by BLACK SCORPIO 2000
Right Now Overview
In the year 2000, a roots reggae project called Right Now Riddim appeared from Jamaica. This release brought together both well-known and newer voices, all working with producer BLACK SCORPIO. BLACK SCORPIO, also known as Maurice Johnson, is a respected figure in reggae. He started the Black Scorpio label in the late 1970s and has helped launch many careers in dancehall and reggae music. Anthony B, known for his powerful lyrics and the hit song "Fire Pon Rome," added his track "Caan Seh" to this riddim. Beenie Man, who won a Grammy for Best Reggae Album in 2001, delivered "Selassie I Word." Bobo Zaro, a rising artist at the time, contributed "Why Did You Do It," giving new energy to the project. Bounty Killer, famous for songs like "Look," brought his style to "Explosion." Capleton, who is known for his album "More Fire," added the song "Right Now," matching the riddim’s roots spirit. With BLACK SCORPIO’s guidance, these artists created a project that still gets talked about by fans today. The riddim’s relaxed but uplifting sound gave each singer a chance to shine. Right Now Riddim stands as a reminder of the unity and creative energy in reggae music at the start of the new millennium.
