Rest In Peace Riddim rolls in with a dusty, militant pulse and the sort of stripped-back dancehall pressure that leaves plenty of room for the vocals to cut through. Quick Mixx keeps the arrangement taut, so Greggory Alison’s warning shot “Don’T Make Them Trick You, ” Hy Jah Flames’ roots-minded “Son Of The Soil, ” and Jolly Kavalli’s watchful “Them A Pree We” all land with extra bite, while Morgan Iy, Pinto Slash, Survivor, and Synger Blazze each ride the same frame with different shades of urgency. The title track version closes the set cleanly, and the whole thing feels very much of that 2016 period when one-riddim projects were still a key way dancehall voices could make a sharp, fast statement without a lot of decoration.
