Reset Riddim – Subkonshus Music

By 2012, the roots-and-lovers side of dancehall was still leaning hard on clean digital rhythms, and Subkonshus Music’s Reset Riddim fits that moment neatly with a compact five-song set led by Tarrus Riley, Konshens and Timeka Marshall. The project keeps the instrumentation spare and purposeful: a crisp drum pattern, a rolling bassline and enough room for the singers to carry the weight. Tarrus Riley’s “Tiad Fi Love” gives it the steadiest emotional pull, while Konshens’ “Touch Again” pushes the set a little closer to modern dancehall phrasing. Timeka Marshall and Tamarley add the softer counterpoint, and the whole thing stays locked in a mid-tempo groove that never rushes the vocals. The result is a tidy, airy riddim with a steady one-drop feel and a bassline that keeps everything moving without crowding the chant.
