Reggae Virus Booster Riddim – Tad’s Records

Tad’s Records has long sat in the center of Kingston’s reggae economy, moving between roots, lovers rock, dub and dancehall while keeping a deep catalog alive from both veteran voices and newer studio work. Reggae Virus Booster arrived in 2023 as part of that tradition, framed as a multi-artist juggling with 20 cuts and a closing dub version. The label’s own presentation places it squarely in its reggae lane, and the release made enough noise to surface on Jamaica music countdown lists that spring.

The riddim itself feels warm and patient, more foundation reggae than flashy crossover. The groove leaves room for melody, and the song choices push that mood in different directions: George Nooks opens with “Leave Her Alone, ” Anthony B brings his message-driving edge on “Bald Head Jesus, ” and Marcia Griffiths adds a graceful, polished touch with “Magical Love. ” Etana’s “Don’t Let Me Go” and Terry Linen’s “Love Doesn’t Ask Why” tilt the set toward relationship songs, while Glen Washington and Sanchez keep the lovers-rock pressure steady.

Elsewhere, the project gets a harder social pulse from Richie Spice’s “Baseball Girl, ” Anthony Cruz’s “Rasta Government, ” and I-Octane’s “Mi Want More. ” Chezidek and Lutan Fyah add the kind of conscious chants that suit the riddim’s earthy pull, while Dean Fraser’s “Booster” and “Virus Dub” give the set its instrumental spine. It’s the sort of release that works because the voices are seasoned and the rhythm leaves them enough space to breathe.
