Realist Overview
In 2022, the Realist Riddim brought new energy to the soca world, especially during carnival season. This project was driven by COLLISBEATS, a producer known for sharp, catchy riddims that connect with both traditional and modern soca fans. COLLISBEATS is recognized for his work with the label Collisbeats Music and has built a reputation for creating tracks that get heavy play on Caribbean sound systems and trucks during parades. The Realist Riddim stands out for its powerful “truck anthem” sound. The bassline and drum patterns are crafted to carry over big speakers, making it perfect for sound system culture, where music is meant to be felt as much as heard. The studio team behind COLLISBEATS played a big part, carefully blending vocal harmonies and rhythms to give each song its own character. Several artists joined COLLISBEATS on this project. Benjai & Collisbeats delivered “I Swear,” bringing Benjai’s well-known voice—he is famous for his hit “Trini”—to the mix. Tallpree & Collisbeats dropped “First Time,” a lively track from Tallpree, who is celebrated for his soca anthem “Graveyard.” Dash & Collisbeats released “Gather Round,” while Terra D Governor & Collisbeats offered “The Realist.” Mystyk & Collisbeats completed the set with “Doh Vex.” Each song added a unique flavor to the Realist Riddim, helping to lift spirits and energize carnival parades in 2022. The project remains a strong example of modern soca, built for both the road and the sound system.
