Rastar Riddim – Rasta Records

Rastar Riddim sits in Rasta Records’ 2007 catalogue as a roots-conscious one-riddim set, with Jah Mason, Niyorah and Norris Man carrying most of the weight over a warm, steady groove that leans on the classic reggae skank rather than anything flashy. Jah Mason’s “Beautiful Words” and Niyorah’s “We Shall See” keep the spiritual side front and center, while Norris Man’s “Corrupted System” gives the selection a sharper social edge; Tony Curtis and Jahyut round it out with more meditation on uplift and identity. Rasta Records keeps the production earthy and uncluttered, letting the vocals sit high in the mix and the rhythm breathe underneath them.
