Old Yaad Riddim leans into a straight-ahead roots swing, with Capleton’s “From Yah Suh” setting the tone before Perfect Giddimani, Zamunda and Teflon carry it through with the kind of conscious chant and streetwise grit Cutstone Records knows how to frame. The whole set feels less flashy than some of the label’s more club-minded work, but that’s part of the charm: it’s a sturdier, earthier cut, built for listeners who like their reggae unhurried and firmly planted in the yard. Robbie Rule’s “Prayer Time” and DYCR’s “Trust Not In Astrologer” are especially sharp touches in a tracklist that keeps the message front and center.
