Ceema Riddim – Supatech Records

Ceema rides on a bright, mid-tempo roots groove with a clean, singalong feel, the sort of one-riddim cut that leaves room for melody as much as message. Supatech Records lined up a nicely balanced cast for it in 2007: George Nooks leans into the pleading spirituality of “Lord I’m Ready, ” Lloyd Brown and Empress Ayeola bring the softer devotional edge, while Lutan Fyah and Lukie D punch things up with “Sweet Like Syrup” and “Whipp Dem Hard. ” Wayne Lyrics’ “Time Is So Hard” and Victoria Murrain’s “Your The One For Me” add a more everyday, personal touch, which keeps the set from settling into one mood for too long. It sits neatly in that mid-2000s reggae moment when producers were still shaping foundation-minded riddims around voices that could carry both faith and street-level reflection.
