Tru Music Records keeps this 2008 set tight and unfussy, with just three cuts that sit in a mellow roots pocket rather than trying to overcrowd the idea. Elijah Prophet’s “Rainy Night In Summer” has the most immediate pull, but it’s Admiral Tibet who gives the riddim its deepest emotional weight on “Another Mans Child, ” a song title that already tells you where the headspace is headed. Eazy Wayne’s “Empress” softens the edges and keeps the tune rolling with a warmer, lover’s-rock tint, so the whole thing feels less like a showcase and more like a small, focused session. A rainy-night theme is right there in the title, and the mood follows through.
