Raining Bass Riddim – Fams House Music

Compared with some of Fams House Music’s other tighter one-voice pulls, Raining Bass leans into a fuller dancehall compilation feel, with 14 cuts and a proper version tucked in at the end. The riddim itself sits in that early-2010s sweet spot: dry drums, a heavy rolling bassline, and just enough melodic movement to keep it from feeling stripped bare. Wayne Marshall gets the project’s sharpest split moment with both “Phone Text” and the raw “Phone Sex, ” while Junior Reid’s “Legal Tender” and Bugle’s “The Youths” bring a steadier, more serious tone into the mix. G Whizz, Kiprich, and Delus help round out the set, but the real glue is the tempo, sitting around 80 BPM, which leaves plenty of room for the vocal phrasing and that low, rattling bass to carry the whole thing.
