Don Corleon Records’ Peenie Wallie Riddim arrived in 2012 as a clean, bright dancehall juggling from one of Jamaica’s most bankable rhythm makers. Donovan Bennett, better known as Don Corleon, had already built a reputation for sharp, radio-friendly productions and for steering some of the biggest modern riddims in the scene, so this one lands comfortably in that catalogue rather than feeling like a side project.

The rhythm itself has a springy, forward-driving bounce, with a light, percussive swing that leaves plenty of room for the vocals. It is not a heavy bashment stepper; the energy is slimmer, quicker, and more melodic, which is why it works for both party talk and lover’s-rock tension. The instrumental keeps the arrangement uncluttered, letting the bass and drum pattern do the work while the singers and deejays carry the hooks.

The lineup on the release reflects that balance. Sean Paul’s “Caught” gives the riddim one of its most recognizable turns, with his trademark melodic phrasing sitting neatly over the groove. Masicka’s “Fall Inna Love” points to the younger generation coming through with a more romantic angle, while Raine Seville’s “Talk Is Cheap” adds a sharper, more teasing energy. “Summer Nice” from Da Professor pushes the seasonal, feel-good side of the rhythm, and Tever and Lea’s “Papi” widens the project’s appeal with a duet-style cut. The instrumental version at the end makes the rhythm’s clean framework easy to hear on its own.
