Out of West London by way of Dubshot’s New York link-up, Paranoid Riddim lands as a tight four-track dancehall set from 2013, and it has the kind of raw, brooding pulse the title promises. Jamie Rodigan keeps the riddim lean and percussive, with a dark bassline and clipped drums that leave plenty of room for the voices. Ras Demo opens on “I See” with a sharp, searching energy, Fowlie Don’s “Bruck Back” leans into tougher streetwise momentum, and Fya Lion’s “Mad Them Gyal” brings a more playful edge without softening the cut’s pressure. The instrumental closes the loop cleanly, letting the production speak for itself. It’s a small release, but it fits neatly into that early-2010s wave of UK-rooted dancehall built for selectors, sound systems, and quick replay.
