Small Axe Entertainment and Rebel Sound Records keep Paradigm Shift Riddim firmly in roots territory, but it has a clean, modern lift rather than a dusty revival feel. The cut is driven by a steady one-drop pulse, bright guitar skanks, warm bass pressure and enough space in the arrangement for the vocals to breathe. Cally B is credited with the creation and production, with E. N Young handling the mix and master at Imperial Sound Recording Studio, which gives the whole set a polished, coastal roots finish. The release landed in 2020, and it sits comfortably among the year’s reggae juggling projects.

The artist list is strong and varied. Lutan Fyah, the Spanish Town-rooted chanter known for conscious, Rastafarian roots music, opens with the prayerful Cried Unto Jah. Duane Stephenson brings his smooth, soulful delivery to God Nah Sleep, while Fantan Mojah’s Show Love keeps his uplifted, spiritual tone front and center. Chezidek, long associated with roots reggae and “Can’t Hear Must Feel, ” adds moral weight on All Will Be Gone. Junior X’s Jah Will Deliver Us was singled out for its delicate roots-and-soul touch, and Ras Fraser Jr. , Inna Vision, Renegad, Tydal Kamau, Steppa, Isemaj and N Young all help stretch the riddim across different shades of consciousness.

What makes Paradigm Shift work is the way it balances message and melody. The singers lean into everyday struggle, faith, endurance and social pressure, but the production stays buoyant enough to carry the whole juggling from cut to cut without losing its flow.
