Morphire Riddim – Vybz Cru

Vybz Cru’s Morphire Riddim leans into a lean, digital-reggae swing rather than the heavier bashment lane the crew would later keep mining, and that’s part of its charm. The four-track set is tight: Jah Ghatti’s “Reggae Music” comes off warm and straightforward, while Don Sharicon’s “Enjoy Mi Life” keeps the mood uplifted without getting syrupy. Nedrick’s “Kill A Soundbwoy” is the sharper cut in the bunch, bringing a bit more edge to the riddim’s pulse, and Bunafire closes it out with the instrumental, which lets the sparse production breathe. Released in 2019, it sits right in that period when German-based reggae production was pushing out compact digital riddims with a proper sound system feel, and Morphire lands as one of the cleaner examples from that run.
