Paper Plate Riddim – Various Artists

In 2007, reggae riddims were leaning hard into crisp, radio-ready productions, and Paper Plate sat right in that moment with a lean six-track cut that moves quickly and keeps the energy up. Buccaneer’s “You Know” leads the way, with Dario Dane-Jah, Erupt, British and Power Man all taking a turn over the same setup; “Really Hot” and “Sky Topper” feel like the tracks aimed to catch ears first. The hook in this one is the title itself, which turns up twice and gives the project a small circular logic, as if the producer wanted the riddim name to stick in your head as much as the voices riding it.
