Collis Duranty’s “Live Righteous” sets the tone on Pan A Roll Riddim, and that’s no accident: 5Z1 Productions, led by Lyndon Andrews, framed the project around the idea of “moving forward, ” which suits the gospel-reggae emphasis running through the set. The riddim keeps its footing with a clean, uplifting pulse while Emrand Henry’s “Wolf In Sheep Clothing, ” Isasha’s “Life Lesson, ” and Jah Melody’s “Work Hard” push the message in different shades, from warning to testimony to straight encouragement. Frankie Dan and Turner keep the cadence moving with “Work It Out” and “Get It Right, ” but Duranty’s opening cut is the one that really locks in the spirit of the release, giving the whole eight-track set its clearest direction.
