One Life Riddim – Neversleep Productions

Natel’s “One Life” gives this 2013 Neversleep Productions set its strongest lift, and the tune’s conscious tone sits nicely against the more hard-edged cuts around it. Voicemail’s “Can’t Tell Mi Nutten” and Leftside’s “Cry Fi Yuh” keep the energy brisk, while the Nicky B and Konshens combo on “Cut Dem Off” brings a sharper, street-wise pull that matches the riddim’s lean dancehall pressure. There’s a neat bit of contrast, too, between I-Octane’s “Get Gyal” and Jimmy Cozier’s smoother “Love’s Crazy, ” which lets the producer stretch the same pattern across different moods without losing the groove. By the time Stinger J closes with “Stay Away, ” the whole thing feels like a compact little 2013 time capsule, right down to the instrumental version tucked at the end.
