Charlie Pro Records usually turns out lean, straight-ahead dancehall, and Planet Party keeps that spirit while leaning a little harder into the dancefloor side of the lane. The release pulls together eight cuts, with Kalado’s “Mansion” and Skillibeng’s “Bruk Up Party” giving the riddim its sharpest hooks, while Hot Frass’s “Wa Gwan” and Bernie ft. Charlie Pro’s “Money On My Mind” add more pressure to the mix; the instrumental underneath is taut and percussive, with enough swing in the drums to keep the whole thing moving without getting messy. It arrived in 2016, and the tracklist also runs through Ryme Minista, Zamunda and Hman before closing on the Planet Party Riddim instrumental.
