It’s always the edgy songs that have a way of putting you on the map. In 2000 Jamaican recording artist Shaggy had his first No. 1 Billboard spot for 3 weeks for his hit song, ‘It Wasn’t Me’. Seven years into his career the song about cheating and getting caught red handed was on everybody’s’ lips thus growing his brand.
In the case instant Kranium has achieved not quite a similar feet. However, he has managed to have a track certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America for sales of 500,000. The track ‘Nobody Has To Know’, features American rapper Ty Dollar Sign and was released in the summer of 2015. It was produced by Lamar Michael Reynolds and was the catalyst to Kranium securing a record deal with Atlantic Records.
The track is basically about a sexual fling, and Kranium sings that ‘nobody has to know’. The song was very popular at the time of its release, peaking at number six on the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart. Adding to that it earned the number 44 spot on the Billboard’s R&B/Hip Hop Airplay Chart and managed to secure the number two spot on Billboard’s Reggae Digital Song sales chart.

“Thanks to all the cheaters that made this record go GOLD in the USA #NobodyHasToKnow @LmrPro @tydollasign #JamaicaQueensNY#FromMobayToNYC #Dancehall.â€
Kudos to you Kranium and Ty Dollar Sign. It’s always good to see a track in patois English doing well in the United States. We look forward to more edgy tracks, and hope you kick onto bigger things.
