MOTHERLAND RIDDIM produced by FOOTA HYPE MUSIC 2017
Motherland Overview
In 2017, the Motherland Riddim brought together some of reggae’s strong voices. I Octane, known for his hit “Lose A Friend,” added depth with the song “Where Is The Love.” Nesbeth, who gained international attention with “My Dream,” shared his story on the track “Success Story.” Jah Vinchi, a respected name in dancehall and reggae, contributed “Walk Through Fire.” Fully Badd, an emerging artist, gave his energy to “Stick Bruck Inna Dem Ears.” Each artist brought something unique to the compilation. I Octane’s “Where Is The Love” questions the state of the world and calls for unity. Nesbeth’s “Success Story” is uplifting, focusing on hope and progress. Jah Vinchi’s “Walk Through Fire” speaks about strength and overcoming struggles. Fully Badd’s “Stick Bruck Inna Dem Ears” delivers a sharp message with his own style. The dub cut for Motherland Riddim was shaped by FOOTA HYPE MUSIC, a producer and label known for work in both reggae and dancehall. FOOTA HYPE MUSIC has made a name by supporting established and rising artists, and has also been recognized for his role as a dancehall selector and radio personality. For this project, FOOTA HYPE MUSIC kept the sound warm and classic, using techniques that give the riddim a vintage feel. The Motherland Riddim compilation helped keep conscious reggae alive in 2017. With powerful messages and a classic reggae sound, the songs and their artists made a lasting mark on the year’s roots output.
