Mitchville Rock Riddim – Pantomine

Produced by Glen Brown for Pantomine in 1989, Mitchville Rock Riddim gathers three cuts from a compact session that leans hard into Brown’s deep catalogue style. Bobby Aitken’s Mr Baldhead Aitken sits alongside Glen Brown’s Glen Brown At The Crossroads and the title cut Mitchville Rock, with Brown appearing on two of the three tracks and giving the set a very personal stamp. The riddim also turns up on the Check the Winner compilation, which places it neatly within the wider Pantomine output and Brown’s run of late-’80s reissues. It has that earthy, rootsy instrumental feel that makes the rhythm easy to recognize once it drops.
