Out of Jamaica’s 2011 dancehall-soca crosscurrent, Menke Riddim comes in lean and fast, a compact FE2 Music set that keeps the pressure up with bright, skittering percussion and a trunk-rattling bounce. Ding Dong’s “Jamaican Groupie” leans into his dance-led swagger, while Blak Ryno’s “Tek Away Dem Gal” and Tony Matterhorn’s “Bb Broadcast (Purple Message)” push the riddim toward cheeky, streetwise party talk; Ninja Kid linking with ZJ Wah Wa on “Menke” and Demarco on “Skip Around” add extra movement to the sequence. Released on September 11, 2011, the nine-track project captures a moment when soca-flavoured dancehall was leaning hard on club-ready hooks and quick, punchy cuts, with the instrumental sitting right in the middle of that rush.
